This past week, twenty-eight players and 6 coaches from the Calvary football program traveled alligator alley west to Collier County and Ave Maria University to participate in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Team Football Camp. A quarter of the group were athletes new to Calvary this fall. During the four days the team was fed spiritually by two-time Super Bowl Champion and former New York Giant Lee Rousseau as well as other former and current college football players. The rigor of 3 or 4-a-day workouts served to unite our young men like few experiences can. Where our on-field performance was concerned, the Eagles did not lose a single scrimmage. During the week, Calvary defeated three 6-A programs (one twice), a 5-A program and three 2-A programs. In a camp attended by 9 teams and over 300 athletes, four were recognized at the final chapel of camp. Two of the four athletes recognized were CCA Eagles. The FCA Camp Staff honored Calvary newcomer Jean Teneus with the “Character MVP” award, and record-setting QB Javan Shashaty with the “Game Changer” award.
